Community Health Centers, Inc. is governed by a
consumer/community driven board. The present board of governors
consists of 14 voting members. 60% of the board are active users
of CHC's health centers. Gender and racial ratios reflect the our diverse
patient population (53% female and 47% male).
The board composition is governed by its' bylaws that are strongly based
on BPHC guidance. The board must be a minimum 51% consumers and
since Community Health Centers, Inc. operates a migrant farm worker
clinic in Brigham City, Utah one of the consumer representatives must be
from that clinic.
All governors are expected to join a board committee and attend at least
one meeting per year. Committee structure is outlined in the board
bylaws and include the following:
- Audit and Finance
- Quality Improvement
- Public Affairs
- Recruitment and Retention
- Executive
The chairperson of the Board Recruitment and
Retention committee is responsible for monitoring the Board's compliance
with the bylaws and initiating activities to ensure compliance.
The Community Health Center board has the authority to:
- Directly employ, select/dismiss and evaluate the
CEO/Executive Director;
- Adopt policies and procedures for personnel and
financial management;
- Establish center activities, hours of operation and
priorities;
- And approve an annual budget.
